Technical consultancy to support the development of an aquatic animal health management plan for Kenya

Deadline: 28 Jun 2024 Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Gatsby has partnered with the State Department for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Blue Economy (SDFABE) in Kenya, Kenya Fisheries Service (KeFS) and Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) with the aim of supporting them to achieve their ambition to promote sustainable growth of the aquaculture industry.

As the aquaculture industry grows, it is imperative to safeguard the industry against disease threats, that can significantly curtail the growth and trajectory of the sector.

The biosecurity status of an industry is elevated by an effective enabling environment; the Government of Kenya recognizes that there is an opportunity to put in place regulatory frameworks that allow the aquaculture industry to effectively grow and expand to meet production targets while also setting up functions that effectively allow the public and private sector to manage, mitigate and respond to biosecurity risks.

The objective of this call for expression of interest is to find suitable technical consultant(s) to provide technical support to SDFABE, KeFS, KMFRI, and other government agencies in performing the activities set out above. The consultant will provide technical support from inception, including planning a stepwise approach to carrying out activities up to execution and implementation.
